MacGillivray is the Highland matrilineal pen name of writer Kirsten Norrie. Under this name she has authored three collections of poetry: The Last Wolf of Scotland (Red Hen, 2017) The Nine of Diamonds: Surroial Mordantless (Bloodaxe, 2016) and The Gaelic Garden of the Dead (Bloodaxe, 2019). 

A central strand of her work excavates the imagined life and writings of the fictional Scottish modernist poet Kristján Norge. Her  2026 pamphlet for Dare-Gale Press is Until the Twilight Fails, the final part of the Kristján Norge Trilogy, which includes  Ravage: An Astonishment of Fire (Bloodaxe, 2024) and The Demon Tracts (Broken Sleep Books 2024) 

 The recipient of numerous Creative Scotland awards, Norrie's AHRC-funded DPhil at Wolfson College Oxford University was in Scottish performance and poetry. In 2024-5 she was the Judith E. Wilson Poetry Fellow at the University of Cambridge and her poetry is taught as part of the SQA
Scottish Highers curriculum. A permanent MacGillivray Archive is held at the Scottish Poetry Library.
